Birthday! Today is the birthday of Marcel Hendrickx (21st April 1925 - 15th February 2008). The tall young Belgian was a powerful member of the Belgian B-team, the "Aiglons Belges", at the 1949 Tour de France. Marcel finished 43rd that year, and also rode and finished in 1950 (25th) and 1954 (64th). One of the strong men over long distances, Hendrickx would go on to win the semi-classic Paris-Brussels in 1954 (302 kms) and 1955 (305kms).
